A close associate of drug leader 'Makandure Madush' who had assisted in organising the funeral arrangements of the latter's father has been arrested in Delkanda today (Mar 13).
The suspect, 'Pangiriwatte Sudda' was arrested by officers attached to the Mirihana Police Special Investigations Unit.
Police said that the suspect had previously stolen a prosthetic arm from the Kalutara Hospital for Makandure Madush's father who had lost his arm. Further the suspect is also accused of providing shelter to some of Makandure Madush's allies and for aiding and abetting in the theft of a dimaond in Errawwela in Pannipitiya.
'Pangiriwatte Sudda' is a father of three, police said.
