The case filed against Malaka Silva for allegedly assaulting a British couple was fixed for further hearing on May 21 by the Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday (Dec 5).
Silva, who is the son of former minister Mervyn Silva has been accused of assaulting the victims at a party in 2014.
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), which is investigating the incident, informed the court that the Attorney General has not provided advice yet on proceeding with the case.
Accordingly, Colombo Additional Magistrate Shalini Perera issued a reminder to the Attorney General’s Department to comply with the CCD’s request.
