The Matara Journalists' Association recently carried out a programme to distribute face masks to members of the public coming to see patients at the Matara General Hospital.
The face masks were distributed for the protection of the public due to the high prevalence of viral fever in the Matara district.
The association also distributed handbills among the public to educate on measures they can take to control the viral fever epidemic.
