The German arm of Reporters Without Borders together with Verité Research have launched a Media Ownership Monitoring Platform that highlights information on ownership of media institutions in South Asia including Sri Lanka.
The launch which took place in Colombo yesterday was the first of its kind in South Asia.
According to the newly launched website www.sri-lanka.mom-rsf.org , 75% of print media institutions had political affiliations while 55% of radio stations and 50% of television stations had political affliations. The research also notes that 55 percent of online media had direct or indirect political affiliations.
