Proceedings of Parliament's Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) will continue to be opened to the media, new COPA Chairman Prof Tissa Vitarana stated.
Parliament's Department of Communications, quoting the new COPA Chairman, said that journalists will be allowed to cover COPA proceedings, continuing a practice begun under the previous Parliament.
Earlier in the day however, Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando informed Parliament that the media will no longer be allowed to cover proceedings of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), though the Opposition insisted that the new COPE Chairman Prof Charitha Herath, had made no such decision.
