The Medical Supplies Division of the Health Ministry has been instructed to provide 24-hour medical assistance to those displaced by the weather conditions and housed at camps.
Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne had issued instructions to this effect, the Health Ministry said today (Sept 27).
Some 139,000 people mostly from the south-western region of the island have been affected and are residing at shelters in Galle, Colombo, and Kalutara.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has also deployed eight medical teams including specialist doctors, and 10 ambulances to provide health assistance to the victims.
