Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday issued notice on former Minister Mervyn Silva yesterday (August 25). Silva is expected to be present in Court on November 11 to give evidence in connection with three cases regarding the disappearance of individuals in "white vans". Chief Magistrate issued notice on Silva, in accordance with a Habeas Corpus petition filed by the relatives of individuals who disappeared in October 2011. According to reports in a complaint former Minister lodged with the CID (Criminal Investigation Department), he claimed that he knew details of the killing of Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wickrematunge, and the disappearances of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda and 'Loku Seeya' of the Ragama Dewale.
