A 22-year-old male was killed and another male injured in a shooting that occurred in the Yayinna area in Kahawatta last night (30).
Police Media Unit said the two victims had been abducted from their home by a group of unidentified men who arrived in a jeep. They had been taken to a secluded spot and shot. A pistol had been used to carry out the shooting.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Palansurigama while the injured victim is a 27-year-old resident of Yayinna. He has been admitted to the Kahawatta Hospital.
The body of the victim is currently lying at the location where it was found under police guard pending a magisterial inquiry. A motive for the shooting or the identity of the suspects are yet to be established. Kahawatta Police are investigating.
