News

The price of a kilogram of imported milk powder has been increased by Rs 15 from last midnight, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said today (Aug 2).

According to the CAA, the revised price of a kilo of imported milk powder will stand at Rs 935.

Meanwhile, a 400g packet of imported milk powder has been increased by Rs 5. This would mean that the price of a 400g packet would stand at Rs 375.

Samantha Karunaratne, the Deputy Director of the CAA told Times Online that the price change would be in effect only for stocks which had been imported since August 01.

Accordingly, the existing stocks would be sold at the previous rate, she said.

Ms. Karunaratne explained that the prices had been increased in line with a formula introduced by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Cost of Living.
