More heads roll at North Central PC
The power struggle in the North Central Provincial Council escalated further today after Minister of Irrigation, Land and Rural Development H.B. Semasinghe was removed from his post.
United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Provincial Councilor Sarath llangasinghe has been sworn in to replace him as the new subject minister.
The changes are the result of a bitter power struggle within the provincial council as some PC members, who are supporting the Joint Opposition, claim to now hold a majority in the council and are demanding that a Chief Minister of their choice be appointed.
