The government through an agreement with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) is gearing to provide more than 1,000 national schools with free Wi-Fi Zones within the school premises.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the programme will coincide with plans to distribute laptops among national school students.
Accordingly, around 1050 schools will be equipped with Wi-Fi Zones for its Advanced Level students. The programme is set to get underway next month.
