The Education Ministry has decided to recruit more than 700 graduate teachers to teach foreign languages in state schools.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry explained that students in Grade 10, Ordinary Level and Advanced Level will be taught languages such as German, French, Hindi, Japanese, Arabic, and Korean.
“Gaining proficiency in foreign languages is vital for students in the future world of employment,” the statement read.
The aim of this project is to enhance learning opportunities of foreign languages, and to expose students towards learning them as part of their tertiary education, it added.
The Ministry observed that education plays a role in developing diplomatic ties, and that the recruitment of new teachers will assist in this purpose.
