A resolution urging the European Parliament to reject Sri Lanka’s request to regain GSP + concessions has been defeated a while ago, trade union sources in Colombo said on Thursday.
The resolution had been presented by the European Parliament Group (EUG) opposing the granting of GSP + concessions and was taken up earlier on Thursday.
The sources said the resolution was defeated by a majority vote. There was no independent confirmation from the government on the vote. –ENDS-
