A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to be signed tomorrow (8) between the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) to convert two of its television channels, "Channel Eye" and "Nethra TV" for educational channels.
Under the terms of the MoU, Channel Eye will telecast educational programmes in the Sinhala Medium while Nethra TV will do so in the Tamil medium.
Last week, Cabinet approved a proposal to convert the two channels, coming under SLRC, to dedicated education channels to aid students after schools were closed following the COVID-19 outbreak.
The channels will telecast programmes catering to all school students, but will give special emphasis on those studying for GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level exams.
Meanwhile, some programmes aimed at university students too will be telecast over the two channels.
