Update: Parliamentarian Shantha Abeysekara's son has been remanded until July 4 over the assault of a police constable last week.
The remand order was issued when he was produced before the Chilaw Magistrate's court this afternoon.
Ishan Chathuranga Abeysekara, 26, had surrendered to the Chilaw police over the incident this morning.
He is alleged to have attacked a police constable attached to the ministerial security division of his father.
MP Abeysekara's son surrenders over assault of police constable
Parliamentarian Shantha Abeysekara's son has surrendered to the police after allegedly assaulting a police constable over the weekend.
He had surrendered to the Chilaw Police this morning, police said.
Police had commenced a search operation to apprehend the suspect after he had allegedly attacked a constable attached to the ministerial security division of his father.
The injured police officer was admitted to the Chilaw General Hospital for treatment.
