Colombo Chief Magistrate's court today (Mar 19) discharged MP Johnston Fernando from the charges of non-declaration of assets after the Bribery Commission withdrew 4 asset declaration cases filed against the latter.
A total of five cases were filed by the Bribery Commission against MP Fernando over the failure to declare his assets and liabilities.
However, the Commission had subsequently decided to withdraw four cases which were filed against the parliamentarian.
Prevously, Mr. Fernando was accquited of one asset declaration case as the Bribery Commission failed to prove his charges beyond any reasonable doubt.
