NFF leader and UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansa raised a privilege issue in parliament today saying that he could not attend sittings on time as Police had failed to provide adequate security for him to travel from the remand prison to the Parliament.
He requested Speaker Karu Jayasuirya to intervene to have adequate security provided to him so he could attend Parliament sittings on time.
Speaker Jayasuirya said he would inquire into the matter and would meet with police and prison officers to resolve the matter.
MP Weerawansa is in prison in connection with the misuse of vehicles while he was Minister of Housing and Construction in the previous government.
