A case filed against parliamentarian Kumar Welgama has been fixed for July 12 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's court.
Mr. Welgama is accused of violating the SLTB Act while appointing L. A. Wimalaratne as the Deputy Chairman of the transport board during his tenure as Transport Minister in 2010.
The Bribery Commission had filed the case against the Minister for causing losses amounting to Rs 3.2 million as a result of this appointment.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
