Parliament today gave its approval to make the attendance register of Members of Parliament (MP) public with effect from May.
The move came after some opposition lawmakers brought to the attention of the Speaker that many ministers, as well as MPs, were not present when sittings began this morning.
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya then put to the House if they agree to publicise the list of names of MPs who attended sittings. Those MPs present in the House gave their approval.
The attendance list will be made available on the parliament official website.
