Parliamentarians Mano Ganesan, Rishad Bathiudeen, and Malik Samarawickrama have decided to refrain from obtaining ministerial portfolios under the new government.
MP Mano Ganesan taking to his Twitter handle had said that he along with MP Bathiudeen had voluntarily conveyed their decision to the Prime Minister on staying out of the cabinet.
Further, he said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had told MPs at the UNF meeting today (Dec 18) that the number of ministers in the cabinet should be restricted to 30.
The Prime Minister also requested those "solicited cabinet aspirants" to voluntarily stay out of cabinet, MP Ganesan said in his tweet.
