MPs and members of the staff of Parliament will have to pay more for their meals from today. The price revision for meals as well as tea served in Parliament was made by the House Committee chaired by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
Accordingly, MPs will have to pay Rs.100 for breakfast. which was priced at Rs.60 earlier. Lunch will cost the lawmakers Rs200 each, up from Rs150 while afternoon tea will cost Rs.50, up from Rs25.
Additional side dishes ordered alongside meals will cost more depending on the dishes.
Parallel to revision of MPs meals, the prices of food served to Parliamentary staff, members’ guests and the media personnel too have been increased.
Parliamentary sources said the meal prices were last revised eight years ago.
