Former President Mahinda Rajapksa today presided over a ceremony to remember the war heroes killed in fighting the LTTE.
Mr Rajapaksa said the government should take all measures to protect the victory chieved by defeating the LTTE.
He said he was not worried about being jailed on false allegations, but the government shoukd not allow the separatists to raise their heads .
Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa and a number of MPs were present. The gathering remembered the war heroes by lighting oil lamps.
Mr Rajapaksa was earlier welcomed by the mother of corporal Gamini who sacrificed his life by throwing himself into and LTTE vehicle that drove into a military camp in elephant pass.
