Steps are being taken to import 600 narcotics detection scanners in a bid to crackdown on the usage of narcotics, Police Motor Traffic DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Mr. Rohana noted that this equipment will be imported to the country within the next three months. A total of 20 narcotic varieties could be detected using these devices, he explained.
The DIG further said that these devices would be distributed among the traffic divisions of all police stations and would be used when searching vehicles transporting narcotics.
