Nation building will be easy if more MPs were intellectuals: President

President Maithripala Sirisena during a recent address remarked that nation building would not be difficult if a minimum of 50 parliamentarians were intellectuals.

He made this remark during the Vice Chancellor's awards for Research Excellence at the President’s House yesterday (Mar 24).

During his address, Mr. Sirisena called on all intellectuals including doctorate holders and Professors to come forward and engage in a wide programme to serve the people and the country.

He pointed out that the collaboration of intellectuals was required in order to overcome the economic, social, and environmental issues faced by the country.
