The National Vesak Week has been declared from today till May 2.All arrangements have been finalized to hold the State Vesak Festival- 2018 at the Devagiri Raja Maha Vihara in Bingiriya, Kurunegala on April 28th under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena.
According to the government news portal this year's Vesak festival aims to create a society of wise Buddhists making the village temple as the center of spiritual development in order to realize the sustainable goals of development. Many programs will be held centering the Vihara during the Vesak Week.
Among the many religious programmes organized for the Vesak Week are 150 spiritual development programs in the Kurunegala District, 6 mobile services programs, 16 Dharma School teacher training programs, 61 Health and Dharma Programs, 30 child meditation programs, 18 Professions and Buddhism programs, 20 novice monks training programs, 37 programs featuring parent-children bonds.
