Fourteen Indian fishermen have been arrested by the Navy for engaging illegal poaching in Sri Lankan waters in seas off Thalaimannar. Three of their boats were too taken into custody, Navy said.
The fishermen are being escorted to the Thalaimannar habour to handover to the fisheries authorities for legal action.
The arrest comes after as the 45 day-ban to use mechanised boats for fishing due to the breeding season came to an end by last week, the Indian fishermen commenced fishing.
