A special operation conducted by Navy’s North Central and Eastern naval commands resulted in the arrest of six persons smuggling crystal methamphetamine (Ice), heroin and Kerala cannabis, Navy media said.
The North Central naval command in coordination with Mannar police arrested three persons and recovered 49g and 490mg of crystal methamphetamine and 2g and 440mg of heroin ready to be sold.
Navy was also able to recover about two kilograms of Kerala cannabis in a search operation conducted in Erukkulampiddi area this week. Meanwhile, the Eastern naval command and STF arrested two persons at 4th Mile Post in Trincomalee with a stock of Kerala cannabis made ready to be sold. Another person has been arrested in Sirimapura, Trincomalee with over 100 grams of Kerala cannabis in his possession.
The suspects are residents of Mannar, Madurankuliya, Trincomalee and China Bay, and have been handed over to Mannar, Uppuweli and Trincomalee police stations.
