Navy brings an ill fisherman ashore for treatment

Navy rescued an ill fishermen from midsea following a urgent request disseminated by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources where he was taken to ashore for immediate treatment yesterday, Navy said.  The fisherman who was suddenly taken ill onboard multiday fishing vessel ‘Sumithra’, had gone for fishing practices on 11th September from Kudawella fisheries harbour.

 Responding to information, prompt action was taken by sending one Fast Attack Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command to bring the patient ashore, following the directives of the Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera. Accordingly, the naval personnel reached the trawler and safely brought the patient to the Hambantota harbour. Thereupon, he was transferred to Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment.
