Five suspects invcuding Lieutenant Commander Prasad Hettiarachchi alias 'Navy Sampath' have been further remanded until March 27 over the abduction of youths in 2008/09.
The order was issued when the suspects were produced before Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake today (Mar 19).
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had informed court that statements have been recorded from former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda in connection with the abductions.
Former Navy Commander Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne who was also named as a suspect in the case over charges of harbouring 'Navy Sampath', was previously released on bail.
'Navy Sampath' who was also accused of being involved in the murder of parliamentarian Nadaraja Raviraj was acquited along with the other suspects in the case. However, a retrial on this case is set to be conducted on April 04 by the Appeal Court.
