A stock of over 902 kilograms of dried turmeric was seized at Thalvupadu
beach in Mannar, Navy said.
Navy said the turmeric was found in a suspicious dinghy arrived at the
Thalvupadu beach. The turmeric that was found wet had been stuffed in 19
gunny sacks believed to have smuggled from India.
Two persons, residents of Pudukuduirippu and Mannar have been
apprehended and handed over to Mannar Medical Officer of Health for
quarantine.
