Nearly 1200 kilograms of narcotics which were seized in the recent past will be destroyed during the first week of April, the presidential task force on the prevention of drugs said yesterday (Mar 19).
Around 80 percent of 10,000 construction workers in Colombo were found to have been under the influence of narcotics, Task Force Director Dr. Samantha Kithalawarachchi told a news conference.
He also observed that these workers transport narcotics to their home towns due to their addiction towards such substances.
