A new armoury is to be constructed at the Panagoda Army Camp at a cost of Rs 275 million, after the project received Cabinet approval this week.
President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as Defence minister had put forward a proposal to this effect.
Construction activities of the armoury, which would be located in a three-storeyed building, will be carried out by Central Engineering Services (Pvt) Ltd.
The funds for the construction will be allocated through the annual budgets between 2020 and 2023.
