New batch of Governors take oaths before the President
A new batch of governors for five provincial councils were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat a short while ago.
The swearing in comes after President Sirisena had instructed the immediate past governors to resign from their offices with effect from December 31, 2018.
Accordingly, the new set of appointments are as follows :
- Azad Sally - Western Province
- Maithree Gunaratne- Central Province
- Sarath Ekanayake - Northern Province
- M.L.A. Hisbulla - Eastern Province
- Peshala Jayaratne - North Western Province
