President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed new Chairperson and Members to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) under Article 41A of the Constitution of Sri Lanka (together with Sections 3 of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka Act No 21 of 1996) December 10, HRCSL said today.
Accordingly Jagath Balasuriya is the new Chairperson of the Commission while Dr. M.H. Nimal Karunasiri, Dr. Vijitha Nanayakkara, Ms. Anusuya Shanmuganathan and H.K. Navaratne Weraduwa are the new members of the Commission.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
