A power-set and engine which was imported from India in a bid to enhance operations of the railway service, arrived at the Colombo Port today (Jul 23), the Transport Ministry said in a press release.
Two power sets and four rail engines are expected to be imported in the near future, the Ministry noted adding that four rail engines and power-sets each have been imported using a loan extended by the Indian government.
Accordingly, another power set and rail engine is to be imported within the next three weeks. Arrangements have also been made to import nine power-sets from China.
