The cabinet have approved a proposal to build a by-pass road of four kilometers from Polduwa to Koswatta junction to minimize traffic congestion around the Battaramulla area.
Cabinet spokesman Gayantha Karunathilake said the decision has been taken following the Government’s policy to relocate all government institutions in Battaramulla to create “ Sri Jayawardenapura Administrative city”.
Mr Karunathilake who is also the Media Minister said that the by-pass which is estimated at a cost of 250 million will start from Polduwa Junction and pass the rear section of ‘ Suhurupaya’ heading to Udumulla Junction.
The proposal was made by Minister oF Mega Polis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka.
