Newly appointed United Nations Development Programm (UNDP) Resident Representative to Sri Lanka Robert Juhkam presented credentials to Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana today (Aug 15).
During today's occasion, Juhkam had pointed out that there is a need to come up with “intergrated development solutions” to overcome poverty, protect the planet and ensure peace for all people, the UNDP office said in a media release.
Juhkam has previously served in the positions of Strategic Planning Advisor, Deputy Country Director, Team Leader, and Deputy Chief during his career at the UNDP which began in 1997.
He had also served as the District Electoral Supervisor and Civic Education specialist for a UN peace-keeping mission in Cambodia.
Juhkam is a national of Estonia, and holds a Bacherlor’s Degree in Political Science (International Relations) from the University of California. He also holds an Interdisciplinary Diploma in Social Sciences (Development Studies) from Stockholm University.
