Nineteen students including the student union chairman of the Ruhuna University have been further remanded until September 9 over the ragging of a fresher.
The suspects had surrendered on August 6 after a complaint had been filed at the Matara police over the incident which involved the ragging of a first year student at the university.
Charges have been filed against the suspects under the Torture Act.
The ragging incident had come to light after being exposed during a news conference.
