No-confidence motion against Ravi K. defeated by 94 votes

The motion of no-confidence against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been defeated in Parliament by a majority of 94 votes. 

A total of 145 MPs voted against the motion while only 51 voted for it. According to available information, 28 MPs were not present in the chambers when the vote was taken. They included Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan and other MPs from the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), former President and current Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister of Labour and Labour Relations W.D.J. Seneviratne and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera.
