The Acting Police Chief informed the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the terrorist attacks that no evidence has been found to link Minister Rishad Bathiudeen to terrorist groups, Committee Chairman Ananda Kumarasiri said.
Mr. Kumarasiri had made these remarks upon conclusion of the Minster's testimony before the Committee this afternoon.
The special investigations committee which had been set-up to probe complaints against former Minister Bathidueen, and former Governors Azath Salley and M.L.A.M. Hizbullah had not found evidence to this effect, he said.
This had been informed to him through writing, the Committee Chairman noted adding that the letter would be included as a document in the PSC's ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, former Minister Bathiudeen today (Jun 28) denied meeting Easter Sunday attacks mastermind Mohamed Zahran as allegedly shown in a photograph.
He claimed that he had only met a Moulavi named Nisthar who looked identical to the prime suicide bomber.
