North lashed by heavy rain as Cyclone Nada heads for India

Heavy rains have been lashing the northern province since last night as it feels the effects of Cyclone Nada, The storm is currently situated about 200 kilometers to the North-East of Kankesanthurai, Jaffna. 

While the intensity of the rains have lessened somewhat, rainy conditions continue to persit in many parts of the province. 

Meanwhile, residents of Jaffna have also noted that an unsual cold spell is now affecting the area. 

In Kilinochchi, the adverse weather knocked out power to several areas in the district, while several roads were also inaundated. 

Many Northern fishermen have also chosen to stay ashore today in view of the poor weather.
