Northern Governor Suren Raghavan called on the Head of the South Asia Department at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Fergus Auld OBE, in London yesterday (Oct 30).
Raghavan, had brief the South Asia Department Head on the development activities in the North. He had also sought the cooperation of the UK government tod evelop the Northern province, the governor's office said in a statement.
In response, Fergus was quoted as saying that he had welcomed the developments in the Northern region, and had pointed out that such efforts would strengthen confidence in Sri Lanka's democracy.
Further, the South Asia Chief had stated that the UK is always ready to assist Sri Lanka in establishing democracy, the statement noted.
