NPC member assaulted in Vavuniya

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member R Indrarajah has been allegedly assaulted by unidentified individuals at Ukkulankulam in Vavuniya last night.

Police Media Unit said the provincial councilor had been returning home on a motorbike with another individual when he had been allegedly assaulted with a rod by two unidentified assailants who had followed them on a motorbike.

The victim had been returning home after attending a funeral when the incident occurred.

The assailants remain at large and Vavuniya police are conducting further investigations.
