Mohamed Fawas, an organiser of the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) group has been further remanded until May 21 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.
Fawas who was serving as the Colombo District organiser for the group was initially remanded until today after he was arrested during a search operation.
During today's hearing, Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne rejected a bail application filed on behalf of the suspect by stating that the Fort Magistrate's court did not have the jurisdiction to release suspects on bail.
The Magistrate also instructed the Police to expedite the investigations which are taking place into the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect was arrested at a housing scheme in Keselwatte with some posters, pen drives, and phones containing sermons delivered by the NTJ .
