Only 583 persons remain in self-quarantine in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Provincial Director of Health Kapila Kannangara told Times Online.
At one point, as many as 1654 persons in the province were under self-quarantine but 1071 have now completed their 14-day period of self-quarantine. These included returnees from abroad, those who had come into contact with them as well as persons who had come into contact with those who had later been confirmed to have contracted the Coronavirus.
A total of 539 of those still under self-quarantine are in the Kegalle district while 44 are in the Ratnapura district.
At present, three COVID-19 patients have been confirmed from Ratnapura district while one persons has tested positive in the Kegalle district.
The Provincial Health Director also stated that authorities have decided to set up two quarantine camps in the province as part of preparations to combat the disease if the situation was to escalate. Accordingly, it has been decided to designate the Rajawaka Agriculture Training Centre and the Samurdhi Training Centre, both in the Ratnapura district, as quarantine facilities.
