Preliminary objections in the case filed over the hacking of the current Kotte Mayor’s computer could be raised on July 03, the Colombo High Court announced today (May 27).
Two persons including former Kotte Mayor Janaka Ranawaka, have been named as the accused in the case which is being heard before High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.
During today’s hearing, President’s Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetty representing the defendants had sought a date to raise objections over the charges levelled against his clients. Accordingly, the High Court judge had announced that objections could be raised on June 03.
Meanwhile, the witnesses who appeared before court were also ordered to be released. They were instructed to be present before court after notice is issued on them on a later date.
The Attorney General had filed the case by claiming that the two defendants had stolen data from the computer belonging to current Mayor Madura Vithanage during his tenure as Deputy Mayor.
