A team of officials left for Hong Kong yesterday (Dec 8) night to investigate into allegations of erased phone calls in the case involving the alleged assassination plot of President Maithripala Sirisena and Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The CID who is carrying out investigations followed a complaint lodged by Director of the Anti-corruption force Namal Kumara over the alleged VIP assassination plot, will now conduct a forensic investigation to determine whether certain phone call recordings had been deleted from the complainant's phone.
The team of officials comprised an assistant police officer of the CID, a Chief Police Inspector and an official from the Government Analysts Department.
The team had left the country along with the mobile phone and the Magistrate court's order.
