A person who attempted to bribe the OIC of the Horowpathana Police to refrain from objecting to a bail request of a suspect over terrorism-related charges has been remanded until May 21.
The individual, a 26-year old relative of the suspect was arrested by officials of the Bribery Commission while he attempted to provide Rs 250,000 as a bribe to the OIC.

An individual has been arrested while attempting to bribe the Police to refrain from objecting to a bail application of a suspect who was remanded recently over terrorism terrorism related charges.
The suspect who had alleged links with a terrorist group was remanded until May 14 by the Kebithigollewa Magistrate's Court after he was arrested on April 28. He was questioned for three days before being produced before court by the Horowpathana Police on May 01.
A relative of the suspect had approached the OIC of the Horowpathana Police and pledged to provide Rs 500,000 as a bribe in order to refrain from objecting to a bail application which was to be submitted by the accused.
Bribery Commission officials who were tipped-off regarding this move, had arrested the relative when he arrived at the police station today (May 08) with Rs 250,000.
The suspect relative has been identified as a 26-year old resident of Horowpathana.
