One person has been arrested with eight communication signal jammers in Negombo today (May 07), Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The arrest was carried out during a search operation carried out by the Police and the Special Task Force along St Lazarus Road in Negombo.
Meanwhile, the police spokesman said that a three hour search operation was also carried out at a commercial complex in Dematagoda this afternoon. However, no suspicious devices were discovered during the operation, he noted.
Further, Superintendent Gunasekara said that investigations are currently underway against certain individuals who attempt to mislead the security forces by placing dummies of suspicious objects.
He also urged the general public to exercise extreme precaution with regard to one's travelling bags or parcels and also to refrain from leaving it unattended.
