A suspect was arrested along with a luxury motor vehicle by officials of the Organised Crimes Preventive Division (OCPD) while transporting heroin worth Rs 1 million from Colombo to Katunayake today (Feb 13).
The suspect has been identified as a 30-year old resident of Meegamnuwa and was arrested at around 4:30 pm following a tip-off received by officers of the OCPD in Katunayake.
The heroin weighing 100 grams was discovered in the pocket of the suspect following his arrest.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had purchased the heroin from a close associate of drug kingpin Makandure Madush who was arrested in Dubai.
